LVN-RN Advanced Placement Program option: AAS.NURS.LVN/RN

The Associate Degree Nursing Program is a four-semester, 60 credit hour program leading to the Associate in Applied Sciences Degree. The program prepares graduates to be eligible to take the NCLEX-RN Examination to become licensed as a Registered Nurse (R.N.) in Texas. The Dallas College Nursing Program is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (3343 Peachtree Road NE, Suite 850, Atlanta, GA 30326; Phone: 404-975-5000; Fax: 404-975-5020) and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges. Additionally, the program is approved by the Texas Board of Nursing (333 Guadalupe, Suite 3-460, Austin, TX 78701-3944; Phone: 512-305-7400; Fax: 512-305-7401).

The program combines classroom and skills laboratory experience with clinical experience.

Applicants must:

1. Fulfill all requirements for admission to both the college and the Associate Degree Nursing Program.
2. Complete the designated assessment testing process and any required remediation, including the state TSI math requirement.
3. Complete all prerequisite courses with a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better.
4. Submit a completed admission application packet to the Allied Health Admissions Office via email at AlliedHealthAdmissons@dcccd.edu during the designated filing period.

Dallas College Nursing LVN-RN Advanced Placement
Associate Degree Nursing Program Option Only

A Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) may complete the Associate Degree Nursing Program (LVN to RN). LVN’s who are accepted to the Advanced Placement Program transition into the second semester of the Associate Degree curriculum to complete the final three semesters of the traditional Associate Degree Nursing program. The student must have a valid unrestricted/unencumbered LVN license. Upon completion of the LVN-RN Advanced Placement Program, the student will be awarded an additional 8 semester credit hours of equivalency (articulated) credit for the following courses: RNSG 1413 , RNSG 1105 , and RNSG 1360 .

This 1.5 year/ 3 semester curriculum completes the 60 hours required for an Associate in Applied Science Degree (AAS), Associate Degree Nursing (LVN-RN Advanced Placement Program Option).
